A Dundalk amateur photography club has become the first Irish group to win the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP) world cup. eolas speaks to Chairman Gabriel O’Shaughnessy.
A gallery of evocative photographs from the Dundalk Photographic Society earned the club first place in the prestigious FIAP world cup in December.
The club, which is in its thirtieth year, has 65 members and meets once a week to “hone their skills and develop their ideas.”
Five photographers made up the winning contingent, who claimed the top spot against competition from 140 clubs...

Famous works, depicting Ireland’s cultural and artistic heritage is currently on display at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. eolas reports.
Photographs taken by Sir Roger Casement, John Millington Synge and George Bernard Shaw are just some of the features of an exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).

eolas asks what is unique about painting faces as government-owned portraits finish their tour.
Government art collections usually adorn public offices but the general public themselves each year have the chance to see what hangs on those walls. ‘Faces’ was the most recent display and is just concluding.
Annual joint art exhibitions organised between the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the North’s Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP) have been held for 12 years.
